Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) – MOVEit Transfer

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) experienced a significant data breach related to the MOVEit Transfer system. The company experienced a significant data breach related to the MOVEit Transfer system. Approximately 6 million Louisiana residents were impacted by this breach. 

Unauthorized actors targeted the MOVEit Transfer system, affecting the Louisiana OMV. It is not immediately known whether there were victim duplicates, but the breach exposed sensitive data for a significant number of residents. 

The breach was likely discovered during routine monitoring or incident response efforts. 

Personal data likely exposed during the hack includes: 

  • Name 
  • Address 
  • Social Security Number 
  • Birthdate 
  • Height 
  • Eye Color 
  • Driver’s License Number 
  • Vehicle Registration Information 
  • Handicap Placard Information 

The Louisiana governor’s office believes that all state-issued driver’s licenses, IDs, or car registrations were affected. 

The cyber attackers have not contacted the state government, and there is no indication that they have sold, used, shared, or released the OMV data obtained from the MOVEit attack.
