Ransomware Strikes Multiple Times Yearly

A recent survey revealed that 74% of ransomware victims experienced multiple attacks within a year, highlighting the increasing threat severity and the need for stronger cyber resilience. Despite widespread cybersecurity measures, many organizations paid multiple ransoms, with 33% of victims paying four or more times. These repeated attacks led to significant business disruptions, including data loss, prolonged recovery times, and even closures.

The findings underscore the critical importance of identity security, with many organizations lacking dedicated backup systems for Active Directory (AD), leaving them vulnerable to repeated breaches. To combat this, companies must strengthen their “assume breach” mindset and ensure that their disaster recovery plans are robust, thoroughly tested, and supported by their Board of Directors. Cybersecurity is not just an IT issue; it’s a business imperative.
