The federal government, in partnership with industry leaders, recently conducted its inaugural tabletop exercise focused on AI security incidents. Over 50 AI experts from government agencies and private sector organizations participated in the four-hour simulation, held at Microsoft Corp.’s facility in Reston, Virginia.
Led by the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative (JCDC), the exercise aimed to enhance coordinated responses to AI-related threats. Key takeaways include the need for secure-by-design AI development and deployment, as well as robust operational structures. The upcoming AI Security Incident Collaboration Playbook, set for release by year-end, will facilitate coordination efforts between government, industry, and global partners. As AI becomes a high-value target for threat actors, proactive preparation and collaboration are essential.
